Dragon Kill Points
Welcome to one of the most anticipated pages this guild has ever waited for. This page is in place to discuss how the loot distribution will happen.
After a while of research and testing, the preferred system we will be going with is EPGP which you can read about in full detail here and download here. Please note that the below has some mathematical explanations on how certain points are calculated. You will NOT have to worry about this as the add-on does everything for you.
Definition and Basic Idea:
EPGP stands for an Event Points/Gear Points system. EPGP has three aspects to it.
- Event Points (EP) is rewarded during the raid (breakdown explained below).
- Gear Points (GP) are awarded to raid members during a raid which resemble the cost of the loot.
- Priority Rating (PR) is used to determine who gets loot and is based on the following formula: PR = EP / GP.
Event Points and Gear Points:
A. Event Points:
Your EP will continue to build as you raid more and more with the guild. The default values are 2 EP earned per 5 minutes spent in the raiding group. This will be automatically awarded, every five minutes, during the raid.
Example:
Person A has spent 2,5 hours in the raid group. Person A has accumulated a total of (30 x 2 ) = 60 EP.
B. Gear Points:
Gear Points are awarded for each item you receive based on its quality and level. Each item already has a set GP in the game (this page has information on how GP is calculated). Your GP number will continuously go up as you accrue gear. All Gear Points values will be listed here in its own guide. When you receive an item in game it will get added in to calculate your new PR rating, which will now be lower. This gives other people who may be close to your PR rating a chance to also get loot during a raid.
Example:
The KT kill dropped The Turning Tide. This Item is worth, say, 379 GP. Person A from the example above has 60 EP. Their new Priority Rating (PR) after receiving the item would be (60 / 379) =0,16.
During a raid this will be done by the DKP Leader and is not something that needs to be worried about calculating. If you have EPGP installed, you can find the GP cost of each item on the tooltip of the item.
Loot Priority:
A. How it’s done:
Loot Priority Rating (PR) is determined by dividing your current EP by your current GP. PR = EP/GP. This is the number that will determine who gets the loot when multiple people are interested in the item. Since this system is a relational one, based on your EP (Participation) and GP (Gear awarded) combined, it is actually easy for new people coming in to get gear. Note that PR rating is not affected by the current raid or the item being bid on, but only by your previous EP/GP. After you ‘win’ the item, your GP rating will be changed and therefore reflect a new PR rating (Remember: PR=EP/GP).
Example:
In this setting, the same raid team has come again and Person A is here who already bid on The Turning Tide last time. This time, Signet of Manifested Pain drops and both Person A and Person B can use it, but let’s look at their numbers. Both Person A and Person also received 500 EP for attending raids.
| EP | GP | PR | |
| Person A | 1000 (1st and 2nd raid) | 379 (the bid of last time) | 2.63 |
| Person B | 500 | - | 500 |
Example (cont):
The table above clearly shows that Person B has more PR points and can safely assume that he can take the shoulder token instead of Person A taking another drop again. After calculating it again, those will be the final numbers.
| EP | GP | PR | |
| Person A | 1000 (1st and 2nd raid) | 379 (the bid of last time) | 2.63 |
| Person B | 500 | 379 | 1.31 |
With this example you can see that the system is designed to reward people who participate more and have less gear. The higher a person’s EP, the more they participate. The lower a person’s GP, the less gear they have. New people who have met the Minimum Requirements to become a Raid Member will be at an advantage if they have not accrued any gear yet. The above also shows now that Person A again has more points which makes him eligible for the next drop more than Person B. Great rotation here to insure fairness all around!
Final Thoughts:
A. Gear Vs. Class Specific:
It is expected that all members of the raid will pass gear to a class that the gear is better suited for. Melee DPS gear is not a priority for protection warriors so that gear should be passed to Rogues and DPS warriors. If no one that the gear is better suited for actually needs it then the item will be open to anyone or disenchanted and voids will go to the guild bank or work towards enchanting new drops for guild members. Off spec loot is NOT SUBJECT TO GP.
B. Submitting a request:
The raid leader will list the items on the raid chat and will wait till all the interested players enlist. The raid leader will then revise the EPGP points and award the items to the person with the highest points. Exceptions:
- In case of a tie, the raid leader will determine who needs the items more. In general, a major upgrade will be given priority as an advantage to benefit the raid.
- In case of a tie and both members need the item as a major upgrade, a /roll will decide who wins the item.
- People who will take items and then replace them with Emblem Rewards are urged to pass the items to raiders who need it and can’t benefit from badge rewards.
- People who are raiding with PVP gear are urged to replace their gear if they get the chance. Better items will come with time.
C. Eligibility:
To combat EP Hoarding, new Raiders will be given a default value of 99GP to control loot distribution on new comers. This will ensure that they need to attend a few raids, before being high enough on PR to be eligible for loot.
D. Decay:
All EP and GP will be decayed weekly by an amount of 10%. The decay occurs on Wednesday, before the raid.
Please note that all of the above is subject to constant revision to make sure we have 100% satisfactory rules in place.
