Guild Rules

Welcome to SoL!

All new and current players should spend some time reading and understanding the Guild Rules, Raid Policy and DKP guide. If you have any questions do not hesitate to contact an Officer, Raid Leader or Guild Master.

Is SoL the guild for you?

SoL is a relaxed guild, the foundation of which is a core of experienced players who have been on the Ghostlands realm since its early days. We are looking to expand our guild with mature, committed, like-minded individuals who can bring the guild to a new level through active participation and a positive attitude. To apply for a spot in our 25 man raiding team, please visit the Guild Applications forum.

Guild Requirements

• If you are a raider, you must be willing and available to raid at 20:30 server time for at least 2 to 3 times a week. Please visit the Raid Policy for more information on raiding guidelines.
• If you joined as a member to take advantage of SoL’s social side, you should not develop an expectation that you will join the 25 man raiding team in time.
• You will be subject to advice from the leadership team and so you must be willing to hear constructive feedback and act on suggestions that are aimed at improving your performance.

Forum Requirements

The SoL forum is a fun place and is in effect an extension of the game in as much as members share information, jokes, anecdotes, photos and much, much more. It encourages its participants to write openly about any topic related or unrelated to the World of Warcraft. With this freedom of expression comes some responsibility. The following is a breakdown of what is not permitted and will be removed.

  • Advertising
  • Meaningless spam
  • Nudity
  • Personal attacks
  • Links to pornography

If you leave the guild you forego the right to comment on any happenings within it and your account may therefore be deleted.

Guild Organisation

Leaders

The leadership team consists of a guild master, raid leaders and officers. Each has a distinct role and set of responsibility within the guild but no decisions are made in isolation or without extensive discussion.

Guild Master: Elix

Da Boss. The guild master has the veto on all things guild related. However this has rarely, if ever, been exercised as the guild master works in close consultation with raid leaders and officers.

Raid Leader: Elix, Steblack, Banshee

Raid leaders are focused on developing a high performance and self sufficient raiding team. They assemble raids and post line ups on the forum, ensure there are sufficient players from necessary classes, ensure raids start and end on time, and that loot is distributed fairly.

Raid leaders do a great deal of work outside of raids researching 25 man instances and analysing fights. They have an indepth knowledge of all classes and will use this to maximise raid outcomes. Raid leaders take a holistic approach and will make fair and measured raid decisions based on what is most beneficial to the raiding group as a whole.

Officers: Luella, Ikna, Karajade, and Emrys

Officers provide a supporting role to the entire guild, irrespective of whether you joined for raiding or social purposes. They strive to maintain the fun and affectionate atmosphere that the guild promotes by being inclusive and unbiased. They also arrange events or groups to assist players who wish to gear up or just want to have a laugh.

Officers are approachable, friendly and available to offer advice if you need it. They represent your concerns to the leadership team and will, to the best of their abilities, try to resolve your difficulty in a fair and measured way. It is worth noting that Officers deal with many competing agendas and that the outcome may not always be to your liking. However officers strive for the fairest outcome that benefits the majority and therefore the guild.

Guild Ranks

Raider

Raiders are players who joined the guild to participate in 25 man raids. They adhere not only to the guild guidelines but also to the raiding policy. If you’re interested in becoming a raider, your application can be posted on our Guild Applications forum. Please post your application without creating an account or logging in.

Some players applied and joined the guild in a social capacity. Friends of friends, long standing associates of the guild and family members have been known to join the guild on a social basis. Social members also benefit from the community we’ve developed on the guild forum. However, they do not partake in 25 man raiding activities unless invited by the raid leader due to a class shortage.

Social/Alts

Each character is permitted to transfer alts into the guild.

Recruitment: Steblack

Recruitment is being handled by Steblack.

Application can be made on our Guild Applications forum. Please apply without logging in or creating an account, as that will only restrict your forum access.

Trial Ranks

New members will be given initiate ranks as a trial period in the guild. This trial period will last until the leadership team feels you are well suited for the guild. A ‘good fit’ includes both how you participate and contributes as a member of the guild (in forums, sign ups, in chat, etc) as well as how you play your class. We don’t expect you to be perfect but we expect you to work at improving and being open to constructive feedback. The trial period can be 2 weeks or longer as it will take time to properly evaluate you.

Inactivity and Account Removal

As a member of the guild you are expected to participate and be an active member of the fun community SoL currently enjoys. We do appreciate that real life comes first and we do not kick players from the guild due to real life commitments. Although, in general, players who have been inactive for more than 2 months will be removed.

Hope to see you in SoL very soon!
