Raid Policy
1. Current Raid Schedule and Progression
SoL is enjoying its raids on a 3-day schedule, Sunday, Monday and Wednesday, 20:30 – 0:00. We try to vary raid instances as much as possible to keep the experience fresh and players on form. Some instances are repeated frequently with the aim to gear up the team as a whole in order to progress to more difficult instances, where these progression raids are funded by the Guild Bank.
2. Raid sign-up and Approvals
The guild uses an online tool to manage raid sign-ups, which can be found at www.solguild.net/raids. Details on how to use this tool can be found here. Keep in mind that this tool is bound to your forum account – you use the same username and password for both.
Keep in mind that signing up to an event does not guarantee you a spot. Since we’re using rotations, based on the amount of subscriptions and the specific encounter, we might have to disappoint people.
Final line-ups for our 25-mans can be found on the forum, either one day prior to the event or on the same day of the event. Sign-up selection is at the sole discretion of the Raid Leader. Class balance, the encounter, gearing needs, and reliability are all considered.
Some talent builds are more common than others. Therefore Raid Leaders may ask you to change your talent build according to raid requirements. Raid Leaders reserve the right to deny players who do not meet requirements specific to their talent build (e.g. hit cap and enchants) or players that are talented incorrectly or inappropriately. It means the onus is on players to research their class, builds, and gearing requirements to ensure they maximise their performance.
Finally, Raid Leaders reserve the right to withhold a raid invitation to members whose performance is suboptimal. This includes general awareness, class performance (tank, dps, healer) and the ability to follow instructions. Take care to properly prepare yourself for each raid: read up on raid encounters, bring the necessary consumables and/or appropriate gear. Failing the above will result in removal from the raid.
Note that it is your responsibility to inform the Raid Leader of drastic improvements in your gear or a spec change that might make you eligible to attend a raid.
3. Raid Invites and Starting Time
The raid start time is the time that the raid is buffed and ready for the first pull. Members who know in advance that they are going to be on at the last minute need to inform the raid leader via in-game mail. Park your character at the instance ready to go if you’re coming late to ensure that you don’t delay the raid.
3.1 – How to sign up for raids
- Subscribe to raids through the online tool (www.solguild.net/raids)
- Invites will start 15 minutes prior to the raid time.
- Any members who are missing 5 minutes prior to raid start time will be replaced unless they’ve notified the raid leader earlier.
- All members should come prepared with their consumables. If you require material from the Guild Bank, please make sure you check before the raid and advise an officer to get the material for you. See point 2.
- You are expected to have read about the encounter before we start. See point 2.
3.2 Raid Duration
A scheduled raid will last between 3 and 3H30min. Members who sign up to an event are expected to be present for the entire raid. Members who regularly leave before the raid is concluded are considered ‘unprepared’. Raid Leaders reserve the right to deny an invitation to future raids to these members. Therefore, if you know you will be half an hour late or need to leave half an hour early, please do not sign up.
This is not to say that exceptions under difficult circumstances won’t be made. We understand that Real Life must take priority and in emergency situations leaving early or arriving late are considered acceptable. The point is that it should not become standard practice.
Progress raids that have reached maximum raid time will be given a vote on whether or not to continue. You will not be penalized if you cannot stay past the designated time.
If there is a reason that you can’t stay for the whole raid and you are aware of this when you sign-up, then please notify the raid leader. If an emergency comes up then you must let the raid leader know ASAP.
3.3 Connectivity
Members who constantly disconnect during raids add little value to overall performance. Therefore Raid Leaders reserve the right to replace members who have poor or unreliable connections.
If you know you have an unreliable connection you should discuss raid attendance with the Raid Leader to investigate a workable solution.
4. Raid Addons
Mandatory addons for 25 man raids:
- Omen.
- EPGP. This is the DKP system that SoL uses for our 25-man raids. 10-man raids do not use DKP, loot will be handed out through normal a /roll. See the DKP section for more information.
- EPGPLootmaster. This speeds up loot distribution in 25 man raids giving the team more time to focus on raiding.
- Ventrilo. Mandatory for all 25-man raids and most 10-man groups. For information on how to configure Ventrilo, see this topic.
- PallyPower. Mandatory for Paladins.
- Decursive (or Grid + Clique). Mandatory for all Druid, Priest, Mage, Paladin, Shaman, Felhunter, and Doomguard cleansing spells. Mages are also able to monitor mind controlled units and sheep them if needed.
- Deadly Boss Mods or BigWigs
- ORA2. Mandatory for all classes.
Recommended addons for 25 man raids:
- Ratingbuster. Immediately shows whether an item is an upgrade or not. It improves a player’s analysis of loot and therefore speeds up loot distribution.
- Atlasloot Enhanced. AtlasLoot Enhanced allows loot tables of bosses to be browsed. This is useful in determining item upgrades.
5. Loot
A full explanation of the how the loot distribution works can be found here. It is vital to read and understand the basics of the system. Any questions can be directed to Raid Leaders.
- Please refrain from looting during combat.
- Keep Vent clear of chatter during loot distribution.
- All epic BOP (Bind on Pick-up) items from trash will be dealt with during the raid using the standard loot system linked above.
- All epic BOE (Bind On Equip) items are offered as main spec and points are charged. Failing that it is sold and proceeds go to guild bank or it is stored in the guild bank for other characters.
- All green or blue items will be disenchanted unless a member wants them for a twink. These will not be charged.
- Epic items are always offered as main spec first. If no player needs the item for main spec, the item is rolled for as off spec. Note that players with a viable raiding dual spec take priority over non-raiding specs. Off spec items are free of points charge.
- PvP items are rolled for, free of points charge.
6. Raid Etiquette
- Ventrilo is used as a means of communication in the raid. While we spend a lot of time joking around, Vent is to be kept clear of all chatter during assignments, looting or during bossfights. At these moments, the Raid Leader should be the only one speaking.
- Do not interrupt the Raid Leader while he is giving out assignments or explaining tactics. While suggestions or questions are well-meant, it only clutters up Vent and makes it extremely confusing to other raiders to follow and understand the tactics.
- If you have a suggestion, whisper the raid leader that you have input, and wait for the Raid Leader to address it over Vent before you speak up. If you have any questions, wait until the Raid Leader has finished his explanation before you pop the question.
- Keep vent clear during bossfights. Raiding can be stressful enough as it is, without having to pay attention to 5 different voices. The only one speaking or announcing abilities and assignments is the Raid Leader himself or people with specific tasks on that particular fight.
- Do not spam the raid channel with Damage Meters or other automated information. The raid channel is needed for raid-related communication.
- Everyone is welcome to offer input, just remember to appreciate that Raid Leaders will be busy and not every idea will get processed right away.
- Do not go AFK for long periods of time without letting the Raid Leader know. Breaks will be given throughout the raid when appropriate.
- Please adjust your Ventrilo volume control out of consideration to other players. It’s fine to hear someone laughing and having a good time; not much fun when it wakes your sleeping household up!
Please note that all of the above is subject to constant revision to make sure we have 100% satisfactory rules in place.
